A Christmas Miracle

During the Christmas Eve church service, Emily leaned against me and put her arm around me and cuddled up tight. This with her mother in the chair next to her. There must have been something funny in her sippy cup.

Where's Santa?

Sondra - "Do you know where Santa lives?"

Emily - "Waaay far away." (pause) "At the mall!" :)

Too Scoogit!

or is that Scooget, or scoog-ed? Sondra and I debate but this is Emily's invented word . She says this expression with great alarm to to let us know when articles of clothing, some more important than others, is not on straight.

If even so much as a sock is "TOO SCOOGE-IT!" Great fits of panic will erupt. Sometimes the clothing is already straight so we pretend to fiddle with it for a second and then all is right again with the world. :)

Maddy Eating Solids

Filed under, "Doing the Most With What You Have," Maddy is using both teeth to chop down table food like a snail with a tail wind. Meals are now clocking in in the 1-hour range.

Her favorite food seems to be Gradutates fruit and corn puffs shaped like little stars. They remind me of a breakfast cereal. Maddy love feeding herself those along with pears and green beans.

Talking Maddy and Other Updates

Madison's baby speak has become very deliberate. While she can't verbalize words to say what she wants, she can certainly make sounds at the right time to tell us what she needs.

She currently LOVES the Leap Frog Drum. It's a toy she inherited from Emily that counts forward every time you hit it. Madison would laugh and play with that for hours if we let her.

Maddy is moving faster and faster every day. She still has yet to perform a traditional crawl but as quickly as she is moving with the butt-scoot, she may never.

This is going to be Maddy's first Christmas and the tree really grabs her attention. If only she could pull the gate down...

Maddy is a champ in the bath tub knocking down every bottle of shampoo I leave in reach. She has yet to complain when I dump the pitcher of water on her head to wash her hair.

The big one year birthday is on teh horizon. With all of the crazyness of holiday planning, we are finding it a challenge to plan her party as well. The weather won't be as nice as Emily's (April vs January) so we're moving it indoors to our house. It should be a great time!

Knocking Papa Over, Over?

"Knocking over, I'm not into that any more."

-Emily, when asked if she wanted to come knock me over.

Emily Falls Down

Emily fell while running yesterday. When I asked her if she was ok she paused, looked at her hand and said, "It's ok, I didn't break myself."

Santa Came Early and...

Emily said that Santa had already come so I asked her what toys were under the tree. This is what we got:

Emily - Motorized Trains

Papa - A Battlestar Galactica (That's my girl)

Mommy - More Grading

or to quote exactly "...more of that grading stuff!"

Emily on Milk

"Sometimes it gets in my nose."
